The new Voigtlander Multi Focal Length
(MFL) viewfinder has exceeded all
expectations.
This beautifully engineered unit will do justice to the finest camera it may be
mounted on.
Optically it is one of the nicest units we have tested. With the 15mm to 35mm
zoom settings it will cover most of the
lenses used on both digital and film rangefinder cameras. In actual use it has
an extremely clear viewfinder with no evidence
of distortion or vignetting so often found in auxiliary viewfinders. There is
good news for spectacle wearers (like myself) as
it is just as easy to use with or without glasses.
The framing of each focal length is very accurate and the field shown is within
a whisker of the actual finished image
you will end up with. For the technically minded there are details below:
Note the two slots which indicate
the focal length when used on digital cameras. The rear view shows the dioptre
adjustment. The locking screw is also shown clearly in image one.

Canon mount fixed focal length SLR lenses
have been added to the existing best selling Nikon and Pentax K
mount lenses. Like these the come in 20mm 40mm and 58mm. These are manual focus
lenses and suit the Canon EOS
digital and film cameras. All functions are, like the original EOS lenses,
controlled by a built in micro processor. Voigtlander
prides itself on producing high quality optics fitted into precision metal
components. Unlike many lens manufacturers, Voigtlander
avoid the use of plastics and believe in "old fashioned" high quality
construction.
Shown above are the f3.5/20mm, f2.0/40mm and
f1.4/58mm lenses. (Images are for illustration purposes only) The EOS lenses
have the correct contacts etc. for full exposure connection.
Voigtlander 10th Anniversary Heliar lenses.Mr.Kobyashi the owner and CEO of Cosina who build all the latest
Voigtlander products, has a happy knack of springing surprises from time to
time. The newly released 10th anniversary Heliar
lenses are certainly an unexpected treat. They are patterned after the style of
the early Leica screw mount lenses. This however
is where the similarity ends. These two Heliar lenses are virtually hand made by
Japanese craftsmen who really are passionate
about their photography. There are two models the f3.5/50mm and the f2.0/50mm.
Both lenses are made from solid brass and in
some areas aluminium. To handle them is a true delight and takes you back the
days when precision and quality were not just
words "bandied" about by spin doctors. On top of this the end results are
fantastic, as you would expect from Voigtlander.
