Frequently Asked Questions

This is the page where you find our most frequently asked questions. Like all works in progress, the page will be

added to in the hope that you will find it useful in answering your questions about our products, services, panorama

photography, large format photography and much more:

Q. My newly purchased Video projector works extremely well but with some programs the image on the screen is decidedly blue.
Is there anything I can do to correct this?

A. Many Video projectors do have a this tendency. Check to see if the lens has a filters thread on the front. If it has measure this
and purchase a B+W 81- MRC filter in the size required. This when fitted will correct this annoying problem. Remember you must
use the MRC version of this filter as the special coatings prevent fading which occurs in normal filters.

Q. I own a 35mm automatic slide projector which takes universal magazines. Are these still available and where can I buy them.

Also although the projectors lamp is still working will I be able to obtain a spare lamp?

A. No problem we carry stock of both the Universal and LKM magazines. Yes you can also order 12 volt 100 watt, 24 volt 150watt and

24volt  250watt Quartz Halogen lamps from us.

Q. I am very pleased with my Voigtlander Bessa R2-a camera but the image in viewfinder does not suit my eyesight.

Can I obtain an eyepiece correction lens for this camera?

A. Your optometrist should be able to tell you what dioptre correction you need. Once you know this factor you can order the correct

eyepiece from your local Nikon dealer. The eyepieces for the Nikon FM/FE/F10 SLR range will screw into the Bessa R2-a and R3-a

viewfinders and solve your problem. If you can not obtain them locally give us a call on 02-9437-5800.

Q. What is the angle of view of the Schneider f5.6/90mm Super Angulon XL and other lenses that can be fitted to the

       Linhof Technorama 617s III?

A. Due to the extremely wide image (6x17cm) there are two angles to consider, vertical and Horizontal.

Angles of View are         f5.6/72mm Super Angulon XL:         Vertical 42,5º      Horizontal 99,5º
f5.6/90mm Super Angulon XL:         Vertical 34,6º      Horizontal 86,7º
                                        f5.6/180mm Apo-Symmar:              Vertical 17,7º      Horizontal 50,6º
                                        f5.6/250mm Tele-Arton S:               Vertical12,8º       Horizontal 37,6º

Q. What are the comparable focal lengths of lenses in various formats?

Q. I believe that I can use my existing large format lenses on the Fotoman 612, 617 or 624, what are the

limitations if I elect to do this?

A. Provided that the lenses are capable of covering the format of the camera selected there will not be any limitations in using

existing lenses. If you want to ensure that  your lens is suitable e-mail sales@mainlinephoto.com.au for full information.

Q. I use black and white film and want to achieve better results by the use of filters. Which ones would you suggest I start with.

A.
This is very easy to answer. The most useful filters are Medium Yellow, Medium Red and Yellow Green. These are listed in our

filter shop and will give you amongst other effect greater contrast, better cloud colour and more natural skin tones. Why not

purchase a copy of the B+W Filter Handbook for all the information you need to improve your photography be it black and white or colour.
